Beer Festival 2020 Update

Here at Beer Fest HQ things have been much quieter and a lot stranger than they usually are at this time of year. Normally we’re busy finalising Beer and Cider lists, organising portaloo’s, bins and recycling, deciding how many sausages, burgers and rolls we need while talking to our local Asda store about supplying us with toilet rolls, kitchen roll, Ketchup, soft drinks, crisps and wine.  We’d be planning who would be picking up the marquees and pleading for help in putting them up as well as organising rota’s for behind the bar and BBQ.  We would be finalising the timings of the bands and making sure they were still happy to play for us.  The electrics would also need sorting and the Pavilion would be in need of a seriously good clean.

Instead of doing all of that we’ve been diligently following the advice from the government about social distancing, obsessively washing our hands and only going out to walk the dog or get some exercise during this lock-down.  Some of the Team are Key workers who work for the NHS, local schools and delivery services and have still been going to work, albeit with a changed way of working. Some are having to adapt to working from home whilst juggling home schooling and we are all struggling with not seeing our loved ones whilst generally not living our lives the way we once did.

While all our lives have been changing we’ve been watching the governments announcements about how long this lock down will last and waiting to see when the restrictions on larger gatherings would likely be lifted. With the lockdown being extended for a further 3 weeks it seems unlikely that the restrictions will have been removed before our Festival is due to take place next month.  Like many other events and planned celebrations we have therefore had to make the decision to cancel our Beer Festival for 2020. We would obviously like things to be different as we all put in a lot of hard work to make the festival happen on a yearly basis but we have to adhere to government guidelines to keep us all safe and well.  We want all of you to be happy and healthy so that you can come back next year to support us.

So it is with a heavy heart we are signing off for 2020. We hope you all stay safe, keep well and take care of yourselves and those around you during this difficult time.  We look forward to seeing you again next year.
